Today I am grateful for fresh bread. I am grateful to the six years prior when all of a sudden my then husband and I found ourselves on a very tight income. All of a sudden I found I had to teach myself to bake bread, garden, sew, knit and make my own cleaning products and soap. I had no idea then that the things I had to learn out of necessity would become some of the most valuable skills I could acquire. Alhamdulillah.
Today I am grateful for a little artist. He watches his big sister who loves to draw more than any other worldly thing. If he gets a chance he will steal away any pencil or pen and draw straight onto the walls, I cannot count the amount of hours I have spent scrubbing the walls. Today however he chose to draw on his chalk board. Alhamdulillah.
Today I am grateful for rooibus tea with mint from Egypt and almond milk. I am grateful for the still of the night in which I can get lost in this book that my dear friend Najma gave to me, she came this afternoon and in return I gave her some pizza dough I had just made. She smiled and told me that she had wanted to make pizza but she was too tired to make the dough and here it happened I had made too much by 'coincidence'. Alhamdulillah.
